Holiday Recipes for our Superlicious Followers!

4 MINUTE FUDGE

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup peanut butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 cups powdered sugar

Microwave butter & peanut butter on high for 2 minutes.
Stir & microwave on high for 2 more minutes.
Add vanilla & powdered sugar to peanut butter mixture & stir to combine with a spoon.
Pour & pat into a sprayed or buttered 8 by 8-inch pan lined with waxed paper.
Place a second piece of waxed paper on the surface of the fudge, smooth & refrigerate until cool.
Cut and serve or package for gifts!
This is all that left from our batch of yummy fudge.

*Here is my very own peanut butter 'Almond Joy' variation on this recipe, it is delicious!
Use above recipe, make only these changes:
cut vanilla down from 1 to 1/2 tsp
Add 1 tsp almond extract
cut powered sugar down from 4 to 31/2 cups
Add 1/2 cups cocoa powder
Add 1/2 cup almond slivers
Once patted into pan, sprinkle top with lots of toasted coconut shreds

JIM’S BOURBON BALLS

1 12 OZ. box of vanilla wafers crushed into crumbs

1 CUP powered sugar

1/4 CUP (or more to taste) bourbon

2 TBSP karo light corn syrup (agave syrup works as a good substitute)

2 TBSP cocoa powder

Mix all and form balls.
Roll in powered sugar.
Ready to eat or package as gift!

As for the left over bourbon....Enjoy!

Wishing every one of you a smashing Holiday &
a super delicious 2011!

Sneak Peek Sale now through May 28th!

We have a special just for our "Sneak Peekers" ▬► June Birthstones are 20% OFF now through May 28th and all other yummy stones in our shop ship for FREE!! Gems eligible for the 20% OFF sale are: Pearls, Moonstone, Agate and all white or purple color yummies.
What? Don't have the special discount code?! Get in on exclusive specials by jumping over to the sidebar and joining our Sneak Peek mailing list.

How did the whole birthstones thing come to be?
Found this interesting info on Gemstone.org:
Most gem scholars agree that the tradition of birthstones arose from the Breastplate of Aaron: a ceremonial religious garment set with twelve gemstones that represented the twelve tribes of Israel and also corresponded with the twelve signs of the zodiac and the twelve months of the year.

Because ancient people did not always classify gemstones by mineral species like we do, there is some debate about which gemstones were set in the breastplate and why. Because of this, different cultures around the world have developed different birth stone lists. The modern day list that you know is only the most recent list: some older lists still exist. Some also argue that the proper way to assign gemstones is according to astrological sign and not month.

Delicious Jewelry Designer Sheilah Of Ssheilah jewelry & accessories

Desert Ironwood and Elk Antler Jewelry -- and More
A bit about Sheilah:
We love love making things, going places and eating great food. We're currently in Cheyenne, Wyoming - we love the Front Range and all it has to offer, everything from excellent coffee in downtown Denver to hiking in the Snowies to following dinosaur tracks in the Black Hills.
Much of our jewelry is made with nickel-silver, an alloy of nickel, zinc and copper that has a deep sheen and polishes to a high gleam. We also use several composite minerals, such as malachite, red jasper and onyx.

Sunset in Wyoming - Necklace

Spring Storm Necklace

We use ground-harvested western elk antler in some of our jewelry as well. Elk shed their antlers every year in the late fall as part of their natural mating cycle. People in Wyoming and other western states wander through the wilderness picking up the dropped antlers to be used for jewelry, furniture and decorations.

Men's Western Elk Antler Ear Stud

Desert Ironwood is one of the rarest and most beautiful hardwoods in North America. Desert ironwood is similar to cats-eye stone in its translucency and has a lovely, intricate grain. The nickel-silver pattern in the jewelry is hand-inlaid into the ironwood.

Procurer, photographer and lister of all the delicious gems for our shop.
#1 daughter, sister, mother, wife, writer, artist, jewelry artisan and sole owner of Blue Scarab Jewelry.
Oh and a personal note: she has lots of tattoos. Some she did herself.

Cat lover & advocate for TNR (trap neuter return)
Bug fancier. Not all, just spiders and such.
Thrift shop lover times two.
