"Time to Design" Sale and how about a giveaway?
Well it's back to school time and for some of us, that means more time on our hands to design delicious jewelry! We don't want your hands to be idle, you know what they say about that... so we are having a sale! I ask is there a better way to celebrate the lack of kids in your hair all day? Probably, lol but a sale will have to do from us. Amber has been busy listing lots of gorgeous Rutilated Quartz and Labradorite Pendants. Most gem scholars agree that the tradition of birthstones arose from the Breastplate of Aaron: a ceremonial religious garment set with twelve gemstones that represented the twelve tribes of Israel and also corresponded with the twelve signs of the zodiac and the twelve months of the year.
Because ancient people did not always classify gemstones by mineral species like we do, there is some debate about which gemstones were set in the breastplate and why. Because of this, different cultures around the world have developed different birth stone lists. The modern day list that you know is only the most recent list: some older lists still exist. Some also argue that the proper way to assign gemstones is according to astrological sign and not month.

Yobo and The Jewelry :ninja!
A bit about Yobo:
the :ninja is an all self-taught jewelry designer, and has been making jewelry for more than 12 years. she does beadwork, wirework, and the occasional metalwork, though her favorite is the wire.

the :ninja is slightly obsessed with foreign countries. she especially likes Korea. she finds the language to be beautiful, and she really would love to learn to speak it. yoboseiyo is how one answers the telephone in Korean, and the nickname yobo is a term of endearment.
yobo herself is a strange little girl who likes to be silly and make people laugh. she got the nickname over on the forums on Etsy, where she has the reputation for being a complete and utter nutball.
*personal note here...although I haven't had the pleasure to run into yobo in the forums, on twitter this is true! follow yobo for giggles and sweet tweets!

On January 15th we will celebrate 1 yr in business!
Who "We" are:
Amber Bryce
The baby that was delivered on Halloween by Dr. Harley Grim. No joke. All hospital personnel attending the birth were dressed for the occasion!
The preschooler who called cemeteries god's garden, butterflies-flutterbys and steam from our local nuclear plant...cloud makers.
The grade school child who refused to "stay inside the lines & use the right colors!"
The teenager who's creative, unique and often rebellious ways had me at school more than once. Mostly to fight for her right not to fit into a mold.
Procurer, photographer and lister of all the delicious gems for our shop.
#1 daughter, sister, mother, wife, writer, artist, jewelry artisan and sole owner of Blue Scarab Jewelry.
Oh and a personal note: she has lots of tattoos. Some she did herself.

Happy escapee of the corporate world. 2 yrs in June!

Bug fancier. Not all, just spiders and such.

Breast cancer survivor. (fingers still crossed)
